On January 14th, 2019, 30,000 Los Angeles teachers took to the streets to demand better quality public schools. I wanted to create a graphic that represented the importance of public education and its role in both creating peace and securing democracy. Quality education is a right we must always fight for.
The Spanish version of the poster was created in solidarity with the Latinx teachers, students, and staff of LAUSD. Latinx students make up 70+% of LAUSD's student population. A threat to public schools in Los Angeles is a direct threat to the success of Black & Brown communities in Los Angeles.
This poster was created by Morris Ellis, for DRFTWD (@drftwd.la), in a show of solidarity and with the intention of bringing awareness to an issue. No profits were made and I have no affiliation with LAUSD or any other organization related to this strike. This poster was made available for the public to download, therefore I am not responsible for the misusage of the poster.
